Judicial office demands more than ambition. It requires experience, discipline, and the ability to apply the law with clarity under pressure. The consequences of these decisions are real, and those entrusted with this responsibility must be prepared from day one.
The Committee for a Competent Judiciary targets voters within the relevant jurisdiction, particularly those concerned with judicial qualifications and rule of law, who are evaluating candidates for the bench. The audience also includes potential donors and supporters who align with the PAC’s mission of promoting experienced, principled judicial leadership over candidates without sufficient legal background.
As a political action committee site, the challenge was establishing credibility and a serious, authoritative tone around a sensitive topic, judicial qualifications, while clearly disclosing its legal status as a paid political communication. The site needed to present its standards and supported candidates in a structured, persuasive way without feeling overly promotional, balancing advocacy messaging with the gravity the subject demands.
Given the focused, single-page scope (about, standards, supported candidates, contribute), the project was structured over a 1-2 week timeline covering content and messaging development, Elementor design implementation, and final review before launch.
The approach centered on a serious, editorial tone befitting the subject of judicial competence, using strong typographic statements (“The Bench Is Not a Training Ground”) to immediately establish the committee’s position. Content was structured to build a logical case, why competence matters, the committee’s standards, and the candidates it supports, guiding visitors through a clear argument rather than generic campaign messaging. Required legal disclaimers were integrated cleanly into the footer to maintain compliance without disrupting the page’s visual flow.
The single-page homepage opens with a bold positioning statement and mission summary, followed by sections explaining why judicial competence matters and the standard the committee holds candidates to. A supported candidates section introduces individuals like Bill Gallagher with a guiding quote on judicial integrity, closing with social links and a legally required disclaimer footer.
The mobile layout keeps each section, About, Why It Matters, Our Standard, Supported Candidates, cleanly stacked with anchor-link navigation for smooth scrolling on smaller screens. Key statements and imagery remain legible and well-spaced, preserving the site’s serious tone on smaller viewports.
